Angie, also known as, Momuaye Tun Ati Tun and Ojekunle, is a Fine Arts Educator, Master Full Spectrum Doula, Certified Life Coach and Egungun Priestess.
She was born in Landstuhl, Germany and was raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. Her relationship with music began at age 3, with an introduction to classical piano. Her weekly piano lessons would eventually create a life in the performing arts, African culture, family development and birth education.
After years of classical study, she pursued her passion as a career opportunity. Auditions and scholarships allowed her attendance to major city programs, including the New Orleans Loyola University Student Music Program and the New Orleans Center Creative Arts (NOCCA).
After relocating to Florida from New Orleans, Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina in August 2005, Angie studied Vocal Music Education at the University of West Florida. She was the recipient of several vocal music scholarships, including the Krista Knox Vocal Jazz Scholarship.
She was also drawn to the musical theatre stage where she starred in several notable productions including Into the Woods, Seussical: The Musical, Side by Side by Sondheim, Songs for a New World, Once on This Island and Little Shop of Horrors. She honed her music directing skills in, He Calls Me by Thunder, a stage play inspired by the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing in Birmingham, which she starred in the premier of entitled.
Angie was the former Executive Director of the African American Heritage Society, Inc (AAHS), a local, 30-year-old, non-profit organization. During her time there, she implemented several culture-based summer camps, and was awarded numerous grants for the organization.
Angie has produced several national recognized events, including The Storyteller’s Circle series featured in Pensacola’s Annual Foo Foo Festival. She has guest lectured for several organizations including Escambia Boys Base, Corry Station Naval Base, Brownsville Community Center, Woodland Heights Community Center, Pecha Kucha of Pensacola and multiple online podcasts and shows.
Angie merged her music and life coaching experience into the world of Maternal Health in 2010 . Her passion for woman and children, prompted her to begin a journey as a birth advocate for women of color. During that time, she completed several international programs, and is certified as a Master Full Spectrum Doula, Maternity Reiki Therapist, Breastfeeding Coach, Placenta Encapsulation Specialist and Childbirth Educator.
In 2011, she founded Asabi Birth Services (currently Asabi Arts), in efforts to educate and empower woman of color through their journey of motherhood. During that time, she was successful in delivering her son in an unassisted, breeched homebirth and her daughter at home.
Currently, Angie is the Music Educator and Fine Arts Coordinator at Dixon School of Arts and Sciences. She works with the Dixon After Hours Performing Arts Academy as the Artistic Director, where she teaches acting, music and directs Jr. Broadway- style productions, which include The Lion King, Elf and Once on this Island Jr.
Angie continues to educate, direct, and usher individuals into new spaces physically, artistically, and spiritually.
