Artistic Director

Angie West, also known as, Momuaye Tun Ati Tun, is a musician, holistic, Full Spectrum Doula, Life Coach and Spiritual Advisor.

Angie was born in Landstuhl, Germany and was raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. From a past of miseducation and religious suppression, she persevered to discover a passion for arts, African culture, family development and birth education.

Her relationship with music began at age 3, with an introduction of classical piano. 

After years of classical study, she pursued her passion as a career opportunity. Auditions and scholarships allowed her attendance at major city programs, including the New Orleans Loyola University Student Music Program and the New Orleans Center Creative Arts (NOCCA).

After relocating to Florida from New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina in August 2005, Angela studied Vocal Music Education at the University of West Florida. She was the recipient of several vocal music scholarships, including the Krista Knox Vocal Jazz Scholarship in 2009. While attending college, she became a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. in 2008, where she was able to continue her work of cultural development and community service.

She was drawn to the musical theatre stage where she starred in several notable productions including Into the Woods, Seussical: The Musical, Side by Side by Sondheim, Songs for a New World, Once on This Island and Little Shop of Horrors. She honed her music directing skills in, He Calls Me by Thunder, a stage play inspired by the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing in Birmingham, which she starred in the premier of entitled.

Angie was the former Executive Director of the African American Heritage Society, Inc (AAHS), a local, 30-year-old, non-profit organization. During her time there, she implemented several culture-based summer camps, and was awarded numerous grants for the organization. 

Angie has produced several events in Pensacola including The Storyteller’s Circle series during Pensacola’s Annual Foo Foo Festival, and lectured at Escambia Boys Base, Corry Station Naval Base, Brownsville Community Center, Woodland Heights Community Center and Pecha Kucha of Pensacola.

Angela began her journey as a birth advocate for women of color in 2011. She completed several international birth doula certification programs which include the Commonsense School of Midwifery developed, Birth Arts International and Doulas of North America (DONA).

In 2015, she founded Asabi Birth Services, in efforts to education and empower woman of color through their birth journey. As a birth doula, she was successful in delivering her son in an unassisted, breeched homebirth.

Her hobbies include gardening, holistic health, crocheting, developing skin products, and home organizing.
